What will be REZIDENCE 269?
The family owns a building in Līvāni - a private home built in the mid-20th century that has served as a residence all this time, but has been unoccupied for nearly 15 years. The building was on the verge of being demolished, but we saw it as an exceptional resource that we want to “save” and develop to inspire a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and provide a collaborative platform for us and future generations. Currently, the house is already undergoing renovation, thanks to the support of our fellow citizens, co-financing from the Rural Support Service’s EAFRD, and our inexhaustible energy, because “falling down and getting back up isn’t an art - the ability to get back up afterward certainly is.”
The sustainable “REZIDENCE 269 ” is scheduled to open in 2027, where we will use practical, easy-to-understand examples in the building’s spaces and guest accommodations to help visitors and guests understand the use of environmentally friendly materials in construction and renovation, as well as the use of recycled materials in interiors, the environment, and daily life. The residence will also offer educational tours, networking opportunities with companies and manufacturers focused on sustainable development goals (including product demonstrations), as well as a cozy venue for events and sustainable lodging.
REZIDENCE 269 will be a renovated two-story house offering a unique atmosphere, experience, and inspiration. It will be not only a place to stay, but also a place to work, study, or visit on an educational tour—the first tourist attraction of its kind in Latgale. What makes Residence 269 unique is its use of recycled materials in the interior design: lamps made from recycled paper, rugs made from old jeans, glasses made from glass bottles, and tabletops inlaid with books—combining aesthetics with an eco-friendly approach. The venue is designed for travelers, teams, event organizers, and remote workers. Although there are other guesthouses and tourist attractions in the area, none offer such a combination of sustainability, design, and versatility. The project was funded with private capital and received 60,000 EUR in European co-financing.
